The couple changed into dogs, with golden fur and beauty. They began to sing their love songs again but there were no words. It was changed now, more beautiful than before
The songs of the Wolf Dogs were so beautiful as they ran through the forest, some distance away.
As everyone was listening to the music of the wolves, the small voice of a child somewhere around the fireplace said, "Grandmother Wolf, tell us the story of the song of the Wolf Dogs."
"Very well," said the old one, again shifting her position on the log. "Long ago, during a time of magic and when love was strong, there was a young Indian couple that loved each other very much.
"This couple grew up together, loving the other more each day. Often they would slip into the forest and sing their love songs. Now deep in the forest lived a lonely and unhappy magician, whose wife had died many years ago.
"His heart was empty and cold. Everyday he would hear the love songs, which were so beautiful he could not stand his pain and loneliness. He cast a spell upon the singing lovers to silence their songs. Instead, he told them, 'You shall run in the forest, but not on two legs, for you will have four legs.'
Suddenly there was a deep silence no one could hear the couple sing.
"The couple changed into dogs, with golden fur and beauty. They began to sing their love songs again but there were no words. It was changed now, more beautiful than before.
"So, nights like tonight when you hear in the distance the Wolf Dogs. May you always find beauty in all you do. We all have a special beauty that comes to us."
